Episode 105: Dialogue, Critique, and Privilege (Right click and save as to download, or find us on iTunes or Stitcher).
For Episode 105, we welcomed three friends of the show in to talk about some difficult topics. We were joined by Dr. Cody Reimer (congrats on the new position!), PhD student Patrick Love (who’s been on with us before), and friend of the show* Terry Babb, a Purdue student studying engineering and sustainability. Gamers all, and challenged this week to help us talk about:
- separating critique from attack
- looking at one’s own privilege
- discussing privilege and inequality
- games, games, and more games
After a lot of disagreement, moments of clarity and clarification, rousing discussion, and laughter, we figured out one thing, at least: we like games a lot and we need critique.
*he has to be, really — he’s Alisha’s husband
