For five years Alex and I have been participating in the Extra Life marathon and raising money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in Indiana and Minnesota. And for me this year will be no different. I will beg for pledges and sit in a room for 24 hours playing some of the best and worst games there are to play while consuming mass amounts of caffeine in an attempt to stay away (I gave up on the junk food a year or two ago and switched to healthier fare). We will stream some (and host the streams of other team members), tweet some, and keep people updated on Facebook and the NYMG site.
But this year I am going to do something a little bit different. I will be participating as an official part of a new team, Team NYMG. And I would like to invite as many people as possible to also participate as a part of Team NYMG. All of the raised funds go to the CMN of your choice and pledges are paid directly to the charity and never pass through our hands. This will be my sixth year participating and my sixth year raising money for Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. I chose Riley because it is the hospital that my little gamer had surgery in when she was a wee one and it is the hospital that I have seen help several of my close friends in their times of need.
The money raised for CMN helps the partner hospitals to provide medical care to uninsured children across the country and while we are lucky enough to be insured there are many who find themselves with a need for medical care and without insurance. CMN (and organizations like it) help to make sure that sick children get the care that they need.

And if you can’t see your way clear to do either of those because of time or financial limitations, just be there to cheer us on during the marathon on November 7th, 2015.
