So things have been pretty quiet around here post conferences, but that’s because we have lots of fun things in the works! One of the things that we have coming at the beginning of the week is a Tomb Raider spoiler episode and we’ve been working hard to get some more fun interviews lined up for you in the coming months. More than anything for me there has been lots of game playing going on. I’ve been playing and finishing games like crazy because I’ve needed to talk about them for class, write about them in my scholarship, and talk about them here at NYMG. This week I was really focused on finishing Tomb Raider. I actually pulled an all nighter on that one, and I hadn’t done that in a long time. And let me tell you, I no longer bounce back the way I used to. I do need at least 3-4 good hours of sleep a night to be productive. And then there was Double Fine’s The Cave. I needed to finish at least one run through of that for our Games Rhetoric meeting (it’s like a book club for games). That was a bit frustrating at first, but then it was like riding a bike. It played more like an old fashioned Point and Click Adventure game than anything that I had played in recent years (game breaking glitches included). And just for shits and giggles I installed and played a bit of Grim Fandango after the announcement that Disney was closing LucasArts (Bastards!). I didn’t have the time to dedicate to doing a full play through again, but I will definitely be playing that one in bits and pieces because I have really missed it!
The unexpected XBL downtime yesterday threw me off, but I am planning on dedicating some serious gaming time to Bioshock Infinite today and this coming week. So what are you rounding out your weekend game playing with?
