Here’s a rundown of what you missed (or not) here at NYMG this week. Click through and read more.
Alex started the week by sharing with us her top three moments of badassery as a gamer. They included things like finishing her first game and having a song written about her WoW addiction (really!).
I did a power hour review of the time that Pea and I spent playing Disney Infinity in story mode and what I think the game is lacking (or not). I should also add that the figures (which feel less substantial than Skylanders) do work well for imaginative play outside of the game.
Alex defined what Digital Humanities means to her and explained why she thinks video games are important for digital humanists. Definitely a good one to check out if you’ve been wondering what the heck DH actually is…or even if you think you already know.
This week we finally broke the curse surrounding our discussion of rape culture gets perpetuated in geek culture and released episode 62 of the podcast, “The 3 New R’s: Rape, Respect, and Responsibility in the Geek Community“.
Sarah gave us a good rundown of 5 cartoons that you might want to check out if you have feminist tendencies. And then adds a few more that didn’t make the top 5. Includes video just to get you hooked. Come on, the first one’s free.
And we finished out the week with a Power Hour Review of Killer is Dead by Alisha where she tells us if the titilation is enough in Suda. 51’s last endeavor.
It’s been a great week. Check it out.
